No. Brompton Electric bikes are all EN15194 compliant. EN15194 specifies that the bike’s safety and safety related performance requirements for the design, assembly, and testing of Electrically Power Assisted Cycles (EPAC) are as required when sold in Europe. If anyone, or a third-party company, offers a service whereby they convert a non-Electric Brompton bike into an Electric bike, it becomes Non-EN15194 compliant, unless that person or company can provide a compliance certificate to state as such.
A conversion from a C Line to an Electric C Line model would require replacing most components (e.g. fork, handlebar stem, main frame etc.) and would be a substantial cost. For this reason, the Brompton Electric C Line can only be purchased as a complete bike and cannot be purchased as a conversion/retrofit kit.
Please note that retrofitted bicycles do not meet our safety standards and will not be covered under warranty. Full warranty terms and conditions here.
